Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Facebook Connect Adds a Cut-and-Paste Comments Widget

Interesting. Would love to hear from someone who uses this what the experience/moderation capabilities are like.

This is a nice proof of concept, but real publishers and bloggers will need something more for their sites for proper customization, moderation and community building purposes. Also there are other login systems on the web other than Facebook Connect which must be supported.

    Posted an overview here: http://blog.js-kit.com/2009/02/19/facebook-laun...

I use JS-Kitt to allow users to comment using facebook connect on my google
powered blogger! It doesn't get any of the viral effect of being published
    into users news feeds.

I'm anxious to see if Blogger will be granting access
to this widget, since it made it nearly (if not completely) impossible
    to directly incorporate Connect!

Seems like a reasonable next step in bettering the logistics associated with these
sorts of comments. The true extent of publisher flexibility is what will make
or break it. Wonder how these comments are impacted by the new terms of service,
    I check This digital security
    site on personal data issues.

Is it possible to change the language of the widget. It seems kinda odd to me to put this English widget on a French site.

So will Facebook be claiming blog comments as their property too if this widget is used?

I guess I don't get it? There are plenty of simple embed codes out there that would allow you to add comments... like the one I'm typing in to leave this comment. I also don't understand how posting it to your profile works. If I post a response to a chart on someone's site and say "Wow, I had know idea you sold so much in 1984" How is anyone on Facebook going to find that comment relevent if they're not looking at that pic. I guess I need to try it out.

Facebook connect has a whole seems like a good tool but comment boxes like the one I'm typing in are just as easy and they don't shift the brand value from Mashable to Facebook.

Well , i wanted to integrate their comment system to one of my blogs , but when i started fggwith the installation i realized the terms and conditions of Facebook comment system
    are absolutely unacceptable.
Just take a look.. And they say, check from time to time our ToS , we might change at any time.
No way , i will always stick to Friends Connect.

I graduated from Greeneview in 1980. I was born in Jamestown at what was the hospital then (1961). Lived 1 mile outside of town until I graduated from ITT Tech in Dayton, then moved to Texas to pursue success.

The comments are not showing up in the WP back-end as new comments, and they're not going into the feed which populates our food site's latest comments component. Anybody got any ideas. I like this feature, but not as much if it doesn't integrate into the comment feed of Wordpress.

I just got the widget working on my site. I love it. However does anyone have a clude
clue as to how to customize the widget. I'd like to make the box a bit smaller.
