Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Facebook’s New API’s Compete With LinkedIn & Slide?

Personally, I think this would be a brilliant move if they get the user interface and permissions right. I do not proactively expand my Facebook network while I do with my LinkedIn network. One more professional contact always seems like time better spent than yet another pseudo-acquaintance with whom I can share my favorite books/bands.

I reported in a comment in response to another Facebook article of yours (and on my tumble log) that I'd stumbled onto a hidden page on Facebook, which allowed you to set up lists of your friends.

    The url was: http://www.facebook.com/friends/

However, this now just redirects to the friends.php page.

I do however still have the list I made available to me, which means I can now send a Facebook message to that list, which then sends it to all my friends on that list (I assume, I've not actually tried it).

facebook will always move to control their platform where they see fit; developers who invest their time and money on facebook apps are shooting at a moving target.

the future of the web is open, not closed. see http://readr.com.
