Freedom of the internet should be a basic right. However, there are responsibilities that come along with this freedom. For instance, it's up to the individual to keep their privacy and data secure. That's a main reason I visit this* digital security site.

Re: EU Says No to Kicking File Sharers Off The Internet

Thats good news for EU guys...

Re: EU Says No to Kicking File Sharers Off The Internet

I wish I lived in the EU. Things are so paranoid about file sharing here that I use a secure IM to share files with my friends, its called Brosix, and that way we can share music without any problems. I know some people who have, in the past, been bumped for sharing their own (they created it, not they bought it) music.

Re: EU Says No to Kicking File Sharers Off The Internet

Wow, when spoken so eloquently, I see where the EU is coming from. Perhaps the internet is no longer a privilege, but a necessity of life.

Re: EU Says No to Kicking File Sharers Off The Internet

See - sometimes the EU does make good decisions.

Re: EU Says No to Kicking File Sharers Off The Internet

The private corps are spinning their wheels trying to stop file sharing. They should be thinking of ways to use it to their benefit.

George (tumblemoose) - As a long time musician which has records out in the stores, I can say with certainty that record sales is not where our money comes from. It comes from touring. I post all my music on file sharing sites in hopes to get more people to the shows.

Re: EU Says No to Kicking File Sharers Off The Internet

Well that's definitely great news here!! They were getting quite extreme around this already

Re: EU Says No to Kicking File Sharers Off The Internet

dd

Re: EU Says No to Kicking File Sharers Off The Internet

If you're talking about people getting stuff without the artist being paid then it is wrong. No way to rationalize it, really. Got a 15 year old daughter who d/ls 3gigs per month. No one could possibly listen to that much music.

It is theft, plain and simple.

George

Re: EU Says No to Kicking File Sharers Off The Internet

This is how I felt about the RIAA forcing ISP's to enforce sharing laws on their customers, so good for the EU for standing against the rigidity and customer-negative practices of these type of policies.

Re: EU Says No to Kicking File Sharers Off The Internet

Awesome! I'm glad to see that there are still people in power who are focused on the people. The French on the other hand, well what hasn't been said about the French - great health care though.

Re: EU Says No to Kicking File Sharers Off The Internet

Way to go EU. How are they making so many good decisions? I wish Hungary would have some of those smart politicians :-)
