I had a Geocities page at one time and I was even a neighborhood moderator at one time. I wish they would come up with another service of some sort of method to import these pages into other sites so they will not be lost.

wow, i also started my web design career and passion on Geocities back in like 1996/97. I WISH i could access all my old designs and LMAO over how bad i was back then. My pages were somewhere in a section called CollegePark.

Hey Twitter, are you so sure about that 1 billion dollar valuation? I had totally forgotten Yahoo paid such a dear price. Of course, at that time, Yahoo's stock was also exorbitantly priced, so I guess it comes out in the wash. I'm reminded of what Douglas Adams wrote:

"This planet has -- or rather had -- a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. awww. my very first ever couple (granted free and full of ads) of websites were with these guys. so cheesy, yet...very...very nostalgic. really could care less now but just seeing this article definitely brought back some memories of excitement over cheesy buttons and stuff that i thought looked awesome at the time. we all know how hindsight 20/20 goes. haha.

Back when I was in middle school all my friends were making their first website on GeoCities. So, naturally, I used AngelFire instead.
