With the exception of PayPal, has anything good come of ANY of Meg Whitman's numerous acquisitions at eBay?

Here are some I can think of off the top of my head: shopping.com, rent.com, Skype, Butterfields, Kruse, Half.com. All of these were either sold off later at a substantial loss (e.g. Kruse, potentially Skype), run into the ground (half.com) or just forgotten.

I think that's a bit of a stretch. eBay could've licensed such technology from SU or several other cos rather than outright acquire SU for too much money.

Actually, SU for Ebay always did make sense, at least in the longer run. Think users highlighting attractive auctions and allow people to search for similar auctions. The technology used and tested in SU could have been useful for this.

Nothing good came from that acquisition. I thought eBay had a plan when they bought SU and Skype, but nothing has come out of it. eBay should stick to online auctions.
