That was close!!!

Re: Drunk Woman Falls Onto Subway Tracks and Survives Near Miss [Video]

This video certainly has much to do with social media news, starting with the fact that it was surveillance camera footage which was picked up by the news media which then was recorded and uploaded to websites which are social in nature. But that's just speaking in technicalities. A video going viral is a combination of being shared and being media. Oh wait, that's technically social media also..

I'm actually not quite sure why this isn't social media news. Perhaps these kinds of stories should be prefaced with [viral media] in their titles, as they are in fact social media in action either before or after it is posted in Mashable. Then if a reader wishes he or she can simply skip reading the story altogether upon seeing the title. When I read a newspaper there certainly are sections I don't ever read. Apply the habit here.

Re: Drunk Woman Falls Onto Subway Tracks and Survives Near Miss [Video]

No, that's just Boston for you. That's how people have to dress to be proper in Boston. It's like a totally different world out there. I've lived all over the country but no wear is as uptight about judging people's status by their dress than Boston. Most likely she was coming from somewhere.

Re: Drunk Woman Falls Onto Subway Tracks and Survives Near Miss [Video]

This is totally sweet. I know you guys do a bang up job writing about social media, which is why articles like this seem like "cop outs." Nonetheless, keep up the articles that have great insight into the social media space. I appreciate those.

Re: Drunk Woman Falls Onto Subway Tracks and Survives Near Miss [Video]

terrible news indeed, but the events are mutually exclusive

Re: Drunk Woman Falls Onto Subway Tracks and Survives Near Miss [Video]

We do... all the time... but thanks for taking the time to comment.

Re: Drunk Woman Falls Onto Subway Tracks and Survives Near Miss [Video]

Quite bad timing there Jen, since Germany's soccer national goalie just committed suicide that way.

May he rest in peace!

R.I.P Robert Enke

Re: Drunk Woman Falls Onto Subway Tracks and Survives Near Miss [Video]

Mom, I am so proud of you.....

Re: Drunk Woman Falls Onto Subway Tracks and Survives Near Miss [Video]

Her and the drunk guy going back for more beer would make a good couple:
http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Re: Drunk Woman Falls Onto Subway Tracks and Survives Near Miss [Video]

It's social media because it's a viral video if nothing else.

Re: Drunk Woman Falls Onto Subway Tracks and Survives Near Miss [Video]

Oh my freaking G-d. I still don't really get it. But whatever.

I agree on this one too. I'm starting to think Mashable should expand its tagline or whatever to something like "talking about what people are talking about." Cause they really are covering the topics of the story and spreading the story itself, rather than just discussing anything social media.

Re: Drunk Woman Falls Onto Subway Tracks and Survives Near Miss [Video]

And don't forget this is old news as far as the social web goes.
