It does tend to force people down the Office route though?

Some of the people I work with don't have Office, so how would I collaborate? One of the great things about Glasscubes that I'm finding is that it helps me work on so many other types of documents. They launched their online editing piece last week with Zoho (i think?) and everybody has been able to edit documents - whether they have office or open office. Plus it means that if I have to use someone elses computer, it doesn't matter what's on it because I can just log in and work.

I can see DocVerse being great for me, at my home, but I need much more flexibility and so do the people I work with.

Thanks for your compliment. A couple of notes. First, we have a free version that will always be free. It's important that everyone has the ability to use DocVerse whether they are paid customers or free users.

Glasscubes looks like an interesting application for managing tasks, teams and workspaces. The big challenge is that it does not do a great job of helping you work with your documents.

It still requires you to upload your documents somewhere other than where you are used to working on them (ie Your Desktop!). This means you have to change the way you work.

Because DocVerse integrates seamlessly into Microsoft Office, users don't have to change the way they work. You just keep saving your document to your desktop and keep on working just like you did before.

DocVerse does all the work. I definitely encourage you to give it a shot and send your feedback. We will always have a free version and even our paid versions offer 60-day free trials!

Hi Adam- Shan Sinha, Founder / CEO DocVerse here. Microsoft has for a long time talked about delivering true collaboration functionality. Unfortunately, Office Live ended up being nothing more than a place to upload files to share with other people.

Microsoft has long promised true collaboration functionality for Office and documents but has not done a great job of delivering. Let's hope that things change with Office 2010. In the mean time, for people looking for solutions today on today's software and who do not want to upgrade to 2010, I'm hoping that DocVerse offers a great product.

Isn't this what Microsoft Office Live was supposed to do?

I went to a presentation at MS Cambridge recently, and the presenter did a demo of MS Office Live and said something like, "If you've ever used Google Docs, this is just like that- except it works for your Word and Excel documents."

DocVerse looks really good. An interesting little plug in - it sounds like what you get with OfficeLive (which I guess is going to be replaced by 2010). As a collaborative element, I'm going to have to hold judgement for now as I'm using Glasscubes.com - basically because it's free and doesn't require a download... but as soon as my IT department get the chance I'll try and give this a go...

"say goodbye to copy and pasting, forever" ... That is a little misleading and almost sounds lake a negative point

"Applications I use ever day" ... fatal assumption. It is more likely that the browser is an application I use 'every day'.

However, sounds like an awesome product, sounds even better than google docs collaboration. It surprises me that Microsoft was not able to come up with this product... nevermind I shouldn't be so surprised...
