Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Did Digg Buy Kevin Rose’s WeFollow Twitter Directory?

We should all digg this now lol

    I am digging this...now! hahaha.

Theory - Digg users will be able to connect their Digg account to their Twitter account, and the WeFollow.com integration database will then let Digg measure the "authority" of Digg users based on certain Twitter metrics.

Weak theory. Digg can use the Twitter API to get the useful metrics straight from Twitter. There's no need to buy a middleman website for that.

My problem with WeFollow is that it seemed designed specifically to get people who already had hundreds of thousands of followers more followers. Everyone knows these guys already have a ton of followers. Why not throw everyone else a bone instead, Kevin?

Man Kevin is surely a GENIUS...look at the exposure provided by this new concept...

Nice bit of digging, pardon the pun, to notice the change in copyright. It would definitely be interesting to know the deets behind this transaction. I would like to add that http://StuffRichPeopleLove.com will not be acquired by Digg, we have to maintain our journalistic integrity ;)

What is it about Twitter that makes people think mid-1990s approaches to problems are viable now? WeFollow is an unmoderated directory that lets submitters create new categories on a whim. That's the LEAST intelligent approach a directory can take.

WeFollow is practically designed to become less informative as it grows. It doesn't even have a good search engine -- you can't cross-reference tags! Its traffic is dropping because it's not a good way to find anything. Buying it makes no damn sense at all.

Kevin Rose is a bit of a jerk to be honest with you. I asked the guy a tech question one time on Twitter and he freakin blocks me!

I can't follow him anymore... what a hot head.

What, is he supposed to be your tech support?

Excellent idea, I've used the site to list my own Twitter! With the Twitter market growing by leaps and bounds something like this was needed. I'm not surprised to see Kevin being the one to capitalize on it.

Good buy out - Any idea how much they bought WeFollow for? Pete, did you put in a bid?
  • Paul · 1 month ago
Thanks to this article, today marks the day that wefollow gets a taste of the traffic is got at it's launch.

Well, this is a bit shady, isn't it?
  • halogoggles · 1 month ago
    How exactly is this shady?
  • Brennan · 1 month ago
Won't lists be making wefollow obsolete anyway?

" Was WeFollow its own company originally? Did it have any association with Digg when it first launched?
    - Did Digg acquire Kevin Rose’s side project? If so, did it involve a payment or stock?
    - Why was this done under-the-radar?"

"-Does Mashable suck goat vagiina juice with a gay scarf aound its lip?"

So many questions and so few answers. Stfu Ben Parr, and nobody cares about your gay dildo questons, you brainless supposedly tech writer turd.

Ben Parr: "Aww, I was going through the intertubes and since I got no life, I happened to discover the Digg logo on an obscure site....and oohhhh (faps wildly) I'm gonna write about it...oh yes, I'm gonna write about it..and push it to Digg, so mashable would get some hits and some equally tech tards with no life is gonna talk about it at length and breadth, like their basement-whoric life depends on it. ooohhhh *faps wildly*...*collapses*...*I'm in semen heaven*"

This article is inane. "Is Kevin Rose's company now affiliated with one of Kevin Rose's websites?" ALERT THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AND THE EUROPEAN UNION! CLEARLY A TRAVESTY HAS BEEN PERPETRATED UPON THE MASSES!

    ...

Perhaps, when you attempt to channel someone as inspiration for being a tech pundit, you probably shouldn't choose Glenn Beck as your idol...

Since Kevin Rose created digg, I'm pretty sure he didn't sell his company to HIS COMPANY!
