Heaven FORBID YOU ONLY MAKE 5 MILLION THIS YEAR AS OPPOSED TO 8 Million! GOOD LORD HOW WILL YOU LIVE AND FEED YOURSELF AND FAMILY ON 5 MILLION DOLLARS a year! F'ing Hypocrite!

    PiSS OFF!

We know we can't stop you. We just want you to stop pretending that you're "helping musicians" by stealing our music. You're not.

And it's the independent musicians who have taken the biggest hit to their livelihood. Many of the world's best musicians are cutting back on recording new material because it's impossible to recoup the costs. No serious musician will work for free. We're not charities.

You want free? You got it. But you'll get what you pay for.

You might want to look at the work of Imogen Heap who does a whole lot better now, self distributing and offering stuff for free and tiered offers, than she did on a Sony contract. At the other end of the scale is Nine Inch Nails and Trent Reznor's work - both small and large can do a huge amount by socializing their music, freeing their content and still making good money.

Who the hell listens to independent crap? The reason why independents have "taken the biggest hit to their livelihood" is because no one's heard of them. They never had a livelihood to begin with. So don't start chirping about piracy impacting on your sales simply because no one's heard of you.

Poor wee lassy ... ill advised ... as a recording artist, I'm on the side of the file sharers ... but Spotify has changed the debate ... Don't need to download, just stream for free, legaly ... need it on your iPod? use wire tap ... all legal ... welcome to the brave new world :)

Lily got alot if unfair stick for the initial post as she spoke alot of sense. Piracy does harm the future artists. The problem is that now the rich artists who are established have used her call to arms to secure British musics future as a way of increasing their earnings so they can pay for their new ferraris, drugs and parties. They like the record companies have turned on the consumers as we are easy targets. They should grow some balls and go after the real problem, the overpaided execs who fleece the artists and the consumers. Music needs to be cheaper for the consumer especially digitally where it costs them less and there are less people taking a slice of the pie. And the artists should get a greater share rather than the suits as it's their creativity we buy. As the forced price increase at iTunes shows increasing prices reduces sales

When printing was invented, it was heavily "criticised" by those people who were afraid of losing their power/control over other people. Story repeats itself but the thing is: you cannot stop progress. If something (like living off music) doesn't work anymore, stop crying like a baby! Go find other sources of revenues!

What a hypocrite. I don't pirtate music (iTunes is easier, has much better quality, and I don't need to worry about viruses... for $0.99!) but I don't feel sorry fo her if she money from P2P file sharing of her songs. Lets be honest, deserves it.
Now, a message to Lily Allen: I'm going to give you two simple words, which you turned into a song, to tell you just how annoying you are: Fuck you.
