Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Cops Behaving Badly: Officer Resigns Over Racist Facebook Video

Way to recycle a month-old headline for the lede and painting Bozeman as the poster boy for media ignorance. Do a Twitter search for the Montana town for the link to this Wisconsin story.

I'm with you. It's a damn lazy lede for this story. Bozeman's become the social media ignorance whipping boy; it's almost anecdotal now.

I'm not sure I understand the importance of the KKK comment. She pointed out a correlation. Sure, she laughed like the dumbass she was, but the comment in itself doesn't seem that pertinent. Everything else is the dumbest use of social media I've seen in a while.

That was a stupid thing to do, but... Referring to the two sticks that held up the police uniform - after the uniform fell off, she said, "Now it kind of has the KKK aspect to it. We're just burning a cross."

Is that really a racist remark? And is this a racist video? It sounded like she was describing the cross-like sticks that held up the uniform.

    Dumb-asses.

I agree that it is a stupid thing to do, but as others said, I don't see any racist remarks. This article mentions KKK and according to the report is equally racist as the video.

It's too bad that literally the only time police officers are charged with anything is when there is high-definition video evidence from multiple angles, along with professional surround-sound audio taken with three or more boom mics, along with transcripts from a professional secretary well-versed in shorthand and at least two court reporters, who must all witness the incident using their cybernetically-augmented eyes and ears.

What's wrong with the cop posting that?
Criminals are taken into custody for being stupid, they all slip up one way or the other.
The smart ones don't usually get caught that easily.

I don't think there was anything "racist" here. Unprofessional, yes. Is there anyone who at least once wouldn't like to have burned a representation of their boss?

I'm going to point this out even though I risk enflaming something: Nice story, but this has nothing to do with Bozeman. So why drag Bozeman through the mud in your lede? That was months ago, and the situation with the city's policies has been rectified. Let it go.

dont see why this is offensive. most cops are racist anyway, so id be a bit worried if they werent racist. i thought that americans saw racism as freedom of speech? why put on a charade all of a sudden?
