I can't see it any way because i don't have ticket money to travel so far away ha ha

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

I would like to see more innovations that extend the accessibility and utility of social networks. This might include making networks more accessible and usable remotely. A technology that could voice-enable social networks would be nice to see; open, so it can become an extension to any social network and perhaps serve as a bridge between them. And this could break through the "smartphone only" barrier, allowing anyone with a mobile phone to connect when they're away from their notebook/PC. "Untethered Social Networking" (I'm TM'ing that right now - Larry Greenfield, all rights reserved!)

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

I would like to see more technology implemented within the travel industry. For instance, an application for mobile phones that creates a dynamic travel itinerary based on events, weather, location, time or other criteria that you define. The application would allow real time communication between hotels, airlines, car rental agencies, attractions, restaurants, etc. and fine tunes your preferences the more you use it. If implemented correctly this could help make the industry more efficient, thus lowering costs for businesses and travelers alike...and ultimately allowing more people to travel for less!

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

I'd like to see more innovation with respect to bridging the gap between the mobile and desktop domains. Right now, it seems as if mobile apps serve as bastard step-child clients of applications that exist in desktop domain. Surely there are applications where mobile can be a core player rather than the way to tweet from the road?

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

The innovation I'd like to see would apply everything we've learned about how to determine and display social reputation in web applications and apply it to corporate financial data.

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

I would like to see new creative uses for geo location and social media. Mobile phones with GPS devices are becoming commodity, and Twitter and Facebook users already love to use their mobiles to update statuses and check their friends. In the near future I would like not only to follow people in my favorite social platform, but also to "geofollow" them, and know when a good old friend is in town, or when someone tweeted from my preferred restaurant.

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

I'd like to see more cooperation towards a unified digital identity and logon. With social media and online community interaction becoming more and more popular, I think it's becoming increasingly important for people to be able to own, and count on one singular logon. Each comment, posting or friend that people make online is assigned to their identity, and for people to really hold value in their online identity, I think it's important to avoid fragmentation.

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

I'd like to see more cooperation towards a unified digital identity and logon. We have predictive models, analytic databases, visualization, imaging and monitoring technologies - and plenty of history that we do not want to repeat. Yet we continue to make many of the same mistakes and commit crimes against humanity. We need technology with a conscious.

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

Dear Mashable,

It is quite simple--and I think only one person vaguely mentioned it. I would like to see more Augmented Reality based Technology- mobile, home appliances, and Public Safety embedded with AR.

It looks like AR is slowly creeping into iPhone apps, but hasn't reached mainstream and definitely hasn't reached full potential. I can see Augmented Reality being a MAJOR player in all markets- changing the way we think and use computer peripherals.

Anything that is a TRUE game changer ( and I mean a real game changer) is something we should find innovative and would want to see more of.

A big fan,
Taylor Barr

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

Strange how I can comment here. I want to see Reputation Management tools that work, Ranking that makes sense, and Contextual Search (remember the semantic web promise?) that yields good results. I want to be able to have agents do the work of finding what I want to see, and move to the background what I don't.

I want to see what microblogging can be with these innovations in place, because that is our future and I don't want to have to wait until my kids tell me about in the nursing home.

Let's drop the hype and mass adoption of mediocre technologies and focus on what matters, what we need, and how we are going to start delivering that now.

Bottom Line: we have the base knowledge and technologies available, now we just need to make them work in the proper setting.

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

I'd love to see businesses jump more into the Platform-as-a-Service arena as an alternative to traditional IT development. Between the ability to develop rapid prototypes, to iterate quickly, and the low cost of maintenance, I think it's really a no brainer. When we developed our software using PaaS/Cloud Tech instead of traditional methods, we used 1 person vs. 10 and spent around $1000 instead of a bit over $1M.

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

I'd like to see more voice recognition technology integrated into mobile devices. For example, rather than simply moving my iPhone, I'd like to be able to tell it what to do, "iPhone, give me directions to Kristin's office and then call her," or "Wake me up at 6am tomorrow to The Rolling Stone's 'Time is on My Side."

When mobile devices truly become like my executive assistant I'd pay top dollar and never have it leave my side.

Michael A. It has been said that services and products that work essentially by processing tremendous volumes of data (Google, etc.) are the 'new' AI. While I agree that this does indeed provide a type of AI that most of us had not predicted, or at least, fully appreciated, ten years ago, there is a real dearth of applications that even touch on the older dream of artificial intelligence as smart, intuitive, assistant. The lack of progress in R&D of traditional AI is clearly the primary culprit here, but it seems as if failure of imagination is, at the very least, an accomplice. Could we not put more effort behind focused, domain-limited AIs that nevertheless possess many of the qualities dreamed of by children and creative adults since the fifties?

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

I would like to see more technologies, both hardware and software, related to video content access and playback, specifically in providing video in the consumer space in a way that is seamless, and dare I say, transparent to the user.

Technologies like Apple TV are a step in the right direction, but the consumer space needs not only hardware but content that is easy to obtain and affordable to rent or purchase. The Ruku Netflix streamer and media extenders have made inroads with the "earlyvangelists", but no one has yet crossed the chasm with a product that appeals to the mainstream.

With consumers spending even more time at home in this current economic climate, the timing is perfect to launch the "killer app" for the living room.

Of course, if I receive a free ticket, I will gladly wear the "I <3 Mashable" t-shirt. But no animal costumes. I mean, I would really love to go, and my student loans prevent me from paying my own way. But even I have to draw the line somewhere.

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

I'd like to see unassuming, low maintenance systems that promote realtime feedback of health and wellness that predict disease and injuries and anticipated lifetime health care costs, life span, etc, in store for the individual user based on their current daily behaviors. People are far too often entirely ignorant of the future costs of their current habits and decisions, on themselves and others. Social sharing of this information with friends, families, or anonymous comparison could help them see where they stand in their community, and maybe even seek out help from those that are making better decisions.

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

I would like to see a start-up capitalize on the recession by empowering the community to help one another.

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

SHORT ANSWER: More digital tools for artists (note: "artists" = anyone with ANY artistic inclination)

EXPLANATION: We live in a time of great equalization. Anyone with the tools and the time can become almost anything they want to be. They need only the tools! Take Guitar Hero. I don't think there's ever been a musician who's played that game without thinking "Cute. Now when are they coming out with the real thing?" Video games are great, but they don't give the average user enough credit. A lot of talent is born of ambition, but it can't be given a voice without opportunity. In this case, that opportunity comes in the form of a tool. Not only a guitar, but a great teacher. A master. Through tools like this, we have the opportunity to teach anyone and everyone, anything and everything! And I'm not just talking about music here. All the arts:

Dance: I believe we can move beyond the "Dance Dance" touchpad
Visual Art: Let's move past the mouse - even the Wacom
Drama: Let's interact with out entertainment using our bodies - our emotions.
Literature: Ever ask for another set of eyes? How about millions?
Etc: Sky's the limit...

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

I'd like to see a technology that can take the internet worldwide. Sure, we have DSL, broadband, 3G, WiFi and WiMax here in the US (and in developed countries), but more can be done to bring knowledge, communication and fun to remote areas in the world. So, we need cheaper laptops and robust but inexpensive infrastructures. Can you imagine bloggers and citizen journalists in every corner of Africa? Can you imagine tutoring children in Brazil from your living room? Can you imagine a world where dictators can no longer take away knowledge? I dont know what it looks like, but I think these kinds of technologies are far more important than the next big things we usually think of.

Re: Comment Contest: Win a FREE Pass to DEMOfall 09

It would be great if we could improve our cell phone technology.
