Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Coming Soon: A New Twitter Homepage

  • Saul · 4 months ago
I feel that the "what are you doing?" slogan is such a turn off; a lot of people feels like "who cares?". But when you discover that twitter is a melting pot of ideas, opportunities, and leads, that's when it turns out to be interesting.
  • Adam Ostrow · 4 months ago
agreed ... it also seems like it's evolved to where most updates aren't exactly a response "what are you doing?"

    finally!

I wish they would concentrate more on their uptime than on the look of their homepage.

    +1
  • Neal · 4 months ago
did not know there was uptime issues.
  • Umang · 4 months ago
Umm.... different resources entirely. I'm sure the folks worrying about the bottlenecks on the servers are not the front page designers.
  • Matt Binder · 4 months ago
    Yeah, it's about time.
  • Benjamin Dobson · 4 months ago
Ooh, now I might not have to struggle in my attempts to explain Twitter and make people think I'm just doing it because everyone else is.

    Problem in a nutshell:
What am I doing? Updating a twitter account, duh. What do they expect? We're not all able to bungee jump and inform people as we fall.
  • John · 4 months ago
I totally hate that...that the beauty and mystique of Twitter..no one likes nubes..except of course Twitter. The front page now is clean and uncluttered. Clutter it and its toast.

It's like the first thing they should have thought to do...

People like something new and fresh. It's not fun looking at the same old things for years and years. That's why Twitter has been successful...it's New & Fresh to the eyes. Knoyce will be the same way. Knoyce will give it's users the best of both world's. With Music, Games, Blogs, Groups, Chatting, Apparel, Videos, Photos & Gadgets, Knoyce can compete with the best. With the ability to use Facebook and Myspace without leaving Knoyce, many users will find it an excellent way to stay connected with their friends still on these dying networks until they fully transition to the network that is "better than just nice"...but Knoyce!!!

Knoyce will be launching it's new network to the pubic in less than a week. Will you be a part of something Knoyce, or just continue to use the networks that are now getting old....Literally!

    Knoyce? Whatever...
  • Brian · 4 months ago
Actually, I was one of the people that received a invite to Knoyce before it launches and I was skeptical about it too. But really, it's pretty sweet. I think a lot of people will like it honestly. It's not a scam. They really have all the things they say they do.
  • Gus · 4 months ago
It'd be nice if it became more like FriendFeed... with Likes and Comments so conversations can be a bit more fluid.
  • Nicole B. · 4 months ago
Finally. Just don't make it uggo twitter.

And I'm not entirely sure I want it to be easier for people to understand.

  • socialnerdia · 4 months ago

  • Aleksandre Asatiani · 4 months ago
For me it does not matter much any more :) But lets hope it will be useful for potential users.

That's great news! I was one of those people who checked it out over a year ago and got turned off thinking it was a waste of time based on the home page. I was led to it again a couple of months ago, signed on for whatever reason, and then I got it! When I tell someone about it (which I do because I now love it!), it's almost embarrassing when they then go and check out the home page. I'm glad this is being addressed! Yeah Twitter!
  • djashish · 4 months ago
It seems that twitter guys have received many tweets asking for a homepage.great idea ,this would make twitter more and more popular in the coming days.Let's make it a severe viral so that no one remains untouched from twitter.

I don't think Twitter is anywhere near as useful for (trad) business as it is for arts orgs and creative agencies, who don't just require people, but make things *about* people. (the difference between the monologue of business and the dialogue of arts). I wrote a Twitter for Arts Orgs doc which has been taken up by Arts Council England... http://www.getambition.com/resources/twitter-fo...

Any chance of adding a few folders to the favorites folder? that way I'd be able to sort all my favorites.

PS I am behind in reading them

    thank you

Adam - I appreciate your post. I am glad to see that Twitter is going to invest some resources improving their home page. If I had to rely on the present site (I use Tweet Deck) I wouldn't be there very often because it is impossible to follow the people you are most interested in following.

There are a couple of management programs I recommend Tweet Deck and Seesmic - it will be interesting to see if Twitter can top the usefulness of these applications. Thank you for the info!

Thank GOD. I managed to explain to a friend in only 2000 words how you reply - http://rhodester.net/the-posts-in-which-i-expla... - and the rest of the basics in only another 4000 words or so. Awfully complicated service for something that only lets you post in 140 characters or less.

    excellent news!

YEAH!!! Finally! If you don't know what you get out of Twitter and you got to the home page, you would have NO IDEA what on earth your about to take on. LOL. I think they are losing out by not changing it.
