I'm a bit surprised to learn that Cliqset has been around this long, because it's just like FriendFeed, except with a crappier interface, buggy as hell, and really slow.

Re: Cliqset: FriendFeed Done Right

After all this back and forth I hope there isn't backlash towards Cliqset. I know that many people (besides Mr. Scoble) on the net think it's the best service ever, but I still think it will always stay a niche product…

I'd really like to see something that aggregates all the many social services we're all using nowadays -- in a usable and pleasant way…! Not sure if Cliqset is it, but it can't be a worse user experience than friendfeed…

Re: Cliqset: FriendFeed Done Right

No real-time? That was the thing I never got about FriendFeed, it aggregated MY activity and then others could subscribe to it? meaning I'd have yet another site to have to build up a "friend-base" in order for it to be of any use. If this pulled in all my networks Facebook newsfeed activity, Twitter stream, last.fm likes, google reader shared items it would seem like a brilliant idea. With the ability to comment and like, RT and share all within this one interface rather than visiting individual sites or have individual apps running that would make these services all the more worthwhile. Similiar to FriendBinder (but the interface is so blah) or the Unbound column of Threadsy. If this functionality already lies in this or friendfeed, some please correct me and let me cause i'd love to check it out.

Re: Cliqset: FriendFeed Done Right

Well, we can all agree on one thing. "Cliqset: FriendFeed Done Right" because I said so.

Re: Cliqset: FriendFeed Done Right

Understand the goal. Many people are trying to fill a perceived gap with a similar product. The major issue is that the author's comments regarding FriendFeed were frankly incorrect and should be edited. Her follow-on tone that she didn't use the service much indicated she didn't have enough data at her disposal to make a thorough comparison. If things are wrong, they should be made right with an update.

Re: Cliqset: FriendFeed Done Right

There's still the fact that a lot of the "shortcomings" of FriendFeed pointed out in this article are simply not true. She said people called her dumb. She said there's a "FriendFeed mafia." I learned about this article on Twitter, I don't use FriendFeed that much anymore. But that's beside the point. I can't find anyone calling Christina "dumb." I certainly didn't. I said this was bad journalism. That does NOT mean that Christina is dumb. I feel she owes the community an apology for attacking them without realizing her journalism was substandard and her comments that made it clear she hasn't used FriendFeed very much (her FriendFeed stats prove that too) make it worse.

Plus, you've marked Cliqset as a "clone" of FriendFeed forever. That's not fair to them, either.

Aggregators are aplenty anyway. SocialThing. Jaiku. Etc Etc.

I wish this industry would do something really unique.

Oh, and if Christina doesn't get FriendFeed I can't wait to see her review of Google Wave. Oh, sorry, that was a cheap shot. It's Tuesday. The story is certainnly more a review of Cliqset, not a feature-by-feature comparison with FriendFeed.

What we were trying to get at is it seems like there is an opportunity to fill the void FF has left (see: http://www.centernetworks.c..., though mind you, that opportunity might not be that big as aggregation has not proved hugely popular, and we should have been more clear about why we're making the comparison.

"Done Right" in the way I was thinking about it means a product that may have more appeal to a wider audience, as simplicity has certainly won out most of the time in recent history. But indeed, if we're to make such a statement we need to a better job explaining why it's better than what we're comparing it to.

Lesson learned.

Re: Cliqset: FriendFeed Done Right

Pretty impressive but I don't see it taking off.
