This doesn't creep anyone out? Think of the "stuff" you put out there . . . now imagine your HR Department using it at your next scheduled review, or imagine it being used in your next interview. That and the idea that there is no Opt-Out feature set's off all my personal liberty bells! Freedom includes freedom "from" forced inclusion!

Powerful stuff indeed, not least of all because more and more people are using the ability to tap into the knowledge of their network BEFORE they go and so the search on traditional search engines like Bing and Google. Want to know where best to have an impromptu meeting in London? Want a recommendation for a good printer? Ask your Twitter contacts, get a well qualified answer with a specific recommendation attached. Results of that quality are nigh on impossible to extract from Google and Bing.

Yeh thats great, but when are they going to get around to allowing profiles to come up in regular Google Search. Apparently this has been working for Americans for months but the rest of the world is still in the dark. Why the uneven bias Google?

interesting, i guess when it comes to trust, the normal google search just isn't enough with people using SEO to game the system and dodgey products and services being sold in adwords, it's becoming increasingly necessary to find the market mavens who's opinion you can rely on

So let me get this straight: Google is content with having this labeled "The Google SS" ??
Seems to me there was another group labeled the "SS" from Germany . . . They had a lot to do with information as well, if memory serves.

begin the push of getting more fans/friends for your Website on Facebook for instant first page results!

I kid, but honestly if I'm connected to a blog via Facebook I care enough about their opinion that I'd love to see their posts/comments/tweets come up when I make a related search... likewise these companies know that and will be working to get people connected with Google... sounds like an epic win for Google/Blogs to get people to be cogs in their machine

Sounds great, the only constant I seem to experience is that every day there's an new Social Media app for this or that and it's getting hard to keep track of everything I've signed up for.
Be nice if there was some way to find out :-)

Bing still has some very good features. I had to work hard to force myself to stop using google for search for about a week, now its just natural to use bing. Find some things on Bing just simply better.

It only makes sense. Ideally, social media results would carry a 25% weight in search engines to find highly relevant network relationships that could produce more personally valuable leads in the users search. It would be an extremely powerful feature to be able search for a product or service, and see in the SERPs that a relationship in your social network has a personal connection to that service or product as a fan, or user of the item. That gives the searcher actionable information - you could contact the person in your social network and ask for their insight before you ever try the service or product.

Was excited at the idea but as I read on my excitement waned. Am not connecting my Google profile to all these other sites. Rather just search in twitter or search in facebook.

It's not a web-wide social search: "pulled from social networks connected to your Google Profile". So it's search among your own friends on your social networks. It's an aggregated search which is nice enough, but it's not going to help me find interesting stuff on the social web to do with xyz topic of interest. It's unlike Google to be unambitious, I hope this is just the first step of social search.

Unless Google strikes a deal with Twitter I'd guess that Twitter will tell them to stop including their results until they pay like Bing.
