Eventhough there are some conflicts of interest, now more than ever, apple and google should figure out how to work together considering that Yahoo and Microsoft are now working together.

It's a shame that they could not resolve issues but with Google Android and Voice gaining market share it had to happen. I believe once AT&T loses their exclusivity for the iPhone, Google and Apple may have a better relationship down the line.

A right & wise decision. With Apple's rejection of Google Voice App, it seems that Apple's board of directors is quite transparent.
Think more, if Apple works together with Google, definitely, end users benefit from the collaboration. However, if such a collaboration becomes a trend, and most manufactures of cell phone or PC “ are unable to” or hardly resist/or reject Google’s offer for exclusivity due to its market powers, the anti-trust issue may be another watch item which we should keep our eyes on.

Totally unrelated yet I should point this out, Pete Cashmore I know you created mashable and all but dammit give other authors the choice to write these type of articles, everytime there is a buzz going around I would expect authors like Adam Ostrow, Leah Betancourt, Adam Hirsch, etc etc.(no priority given) to at least be the author of one of them.
What do I see? you get all the exciting articles to post, leave the breadcrumbs to the others. I don't care if you censor this comment later on but god, get it through your narcissist skull.

At the risk of tooting my horn, in March of LAST year, I wrote a post called 'The Chess Masters: Apple versus Google' that essentially asserted two things.
One that Apple and Google are without peers in terms of their ability to build products that cross the once impenetrable boundaries between PC, mobile, media and Internet segments.
Two that given their respective mammoth ambitions, ‘friends’ Apple/Google are destined to become ‘frienemies’ ala Apple/Microsoft (circa 1990).
