Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Brandon Spikes Eye Gouging: Bad Behavior Caught on Video

  • Steven Ray · 1 month ago
That's pretty light penalty, he could have caused serious permanent damage. What a lame ass. I think the other teams should all try and gouge his eyes that seems fair.

Fitting the guy with the Jesus look suggests an eye for an eye.

I guess he could grab a couple of his teammates and go commit an armed robbery, like some players from some other school. Come on people! Get over it!
  • bobyoung · 1 month ago
Half a game suspension is cool, so long as they amputate the fingers of his right hand on the 50-yard-line just prior to the first kickoff.
  • crazymikesapps · 1 month ago
I live in Florida, like the Gators, but this is just plain wrong. To think you can hide your "bad behavior" while playing a nationally televised game, is pretty stunning.

I agree with you your penalty phase and for me 1/2 game suspension is weak to say the least.

Put him out for the rest of the year.

This is disgusting. I don't profess to know much about football, but good sportsmanship should be a minimum requirement? A half-game suspension is laughable.
  • Robert Basil · 1 month ago
Not saying that this is ok. But you must be new to football. This happens all of the time at the bottom of the pile. Nothing new. He does deserve to be punished.
  • bobyoung · 1 month ago
Good call. I'm totally new to football.
  • Jerry Zambrano · 1 month ago
Very poor choice on his behalf, and poor sportsmanship to say the least. And yeah with the penalties. What's up with that? We've seen more for less.

The Grambling Tigers should never play Florida again.... oh, wait.... that was Georgia dressed up like Grambling for Halloween.
  • jonathanboyle · 1 month ago
    Half-game suspension is absolutely pathetic.
  • drivenidealist · 1 month ago
Wasn't it the Code of Hammurabi that stated, "an eye for an eye?" Just sayin'...

    Pun intended.
  • Greg Hollingsworth · 1 month ago
He tries intentionally to injure someone and has to sit out the first half of a game that Florida is favored to win by 24 points? Wow, Urban is really trying to drive home a point with his team.

Maybe if he had tried to break someone's neck he would have gotten the full game. What utter bullshit.
  • Kevin · 3 weeks ago
Whaaaah, Whaaah! I am sure that the GA players did nothing to provoke this.
Brandon Spikes will be a blue chip player in the NFL.
    Lighten up!
  • Jerrry · 1 month ago
The guy is a low-life. If he doesnt have the chops to actually "play" the game in a fair and decent way, they he shouldnt be allowed to play it at all.

  • Kevin · 3 weeks ago
RIGHT ON! Brandon doubled the suspension by his own accord! He could be a star in the NFL already this year!

Fucking NEEGERS ! These apes are always scrwing everything !

Spikes is a bi-product of steroids, ghetto and complimented with an IQ of 70. What a pathetic joke to suspend him for 30 minutes of football. The school should have suspended his donkey ass for the remaining conference games.
  • Henry · 1 month ago
    come on
    shame on him
    bad behavior!!!
  • dowelltaggart · 1 month ago
College sports is getting like the pros. The games are won by the calls (or lack of calls). The SEC is sending a poor message to the people. In the old days Spikes would have been suspended for at least a whole game, write an apology letter to the opposing player and team, then made to do community service.

Now with poor sportsmanship you become a YouTube celebrity, everyone learns who you are and you make millions.

1/2 game suspension is pretty lame.
  • Chad · 1 month ago
Yawn. Is Mashable a "social media guide" or "sports gossip guide"? I mean, maybe if you ended with a question about the consequences of social video, but "what do you think about his suspension?" Who cares...?

  • GoingLikeSixty · 1 month ago
It's just football as usual. He's just stupid for being on top of the pile when he did it.
  • Kevin · 3 weeks ago
True. The only difference is that he got caught. Everyone forgets that he admitted his mistake. Does anyone understand how big the rivalry is between these two teams?
Even the Georgia player admitted that it was no big deal. You have to love the Media.
When the Gators take another championship, everyone else will whine and whine and whine, like it boiled down to this one play Whahhhhhh!
  • N S · 1 month ago
I am a Gators fan and will always be a Gators fan. Yes Spikes made a poor decision to say the least, however, no damage was done. I do believe that he should still have to sit out the entire game not just half.
  • beatrice1 · 3 weeks ago
"Sit out the entire game, not just half" ???? "No damage was done" ??
I guess we have yet another difference in the mentality of East Coast football
and Pac-10 football, considering the offense committed by L. Blount on Sept.3.
This is shameful 'punishment' for UF Coach to give...it isn't even a slap on the
    wrist. Sad, sad.
  • Kevin · 3 weeks ago
Which he did, as you now know. The rest of the country is just jealous. The Gators are in the elite and most everyone (with the exception of a scant few), are all wannabees!
  • Tyson Quick · 1 month ago
    Why is this on Mashable?
  • JB · 1 month ago
I think he should be suspended for the rest of the year, or even from college football. Thats ridiculous your team has a big lead and you act like that. The Georgia players should've took turns pounding on him.
  • Kevin · 3 weeks ago
OK,OK let's give him the electric chair! What a bunch of morons!
  • Kevin · 3 weeks ago
Big Deal. This happens in probably every game, between every team.. The Georgia player even admitted that this was not a big deal.
