  • Timothy · 11 months ago
    Great list! Thanks a lot
  • Amy Marshall · 11 months ago
    Hi Cameron,
Thanks for this great list. We report on metrics for our clients all the time so this comprehensive list is extremely helpful.
I wanted to make you aware of another social popularity tracking tool that we developed called the "Webbed-O-Meter". It combines 16 different consumer generated sites and weighs them on order of importance. The results is a combined score 1-100 with 100 being the best. Give it a try! http://www.webbedmarketing.com/webbedometer
    Thanks
    Amy

Thank you for a great list, I find this information very helpful.

Keep up the good work, it is appreciated.
  • FockCrisis · 11 months ago
Great list! I would have included another free analytic tool: Twatch. www.tracewatch.com
Disclosure: I have nothing to do with them, I´m just a happy customer :)
  • Mike McCurdy · 11 months ago
    1) You don't know how to alphabetize?
    2) You didn't list Google Analytics?
    3) OpenTracker sucks
  • Miramon · 11 months ago
What about specifically those tools and services for competitive analysis,
so you can see how well your competitor is doing with keywords, what sites
and networks he is advertising on, when he starts, stops, or alters a
    campaign, and so on?
  • Sohaib Athar · 11 months ago
OpenWebAnalytics ( openwebanalytics.com ) is another great php based OSS solution that is embeddable in your own code and also works as a wordpress plugin out-of-the-box.
  • Fareed · 11 months ago
A similar list covering mobile analytic tools would be great.
  • M2Mz · 10 months ago
So which one do you recommend? I can't try each one out for myself.
  • Anteck Web Design · 10 months ago
Great list, but a recommendation or round-up would be good. There are WAY TO MANY to try out!

Which ones have which features? and so on...

    Cheers,

    A.

Personally I've been using Google Analytics since it's initial release. My latest website (www.ventrilo.com.au) uses it on every page and I get very detailed results.

    Google gets my pick.

  • midnightklein · 10 months ago
Question: If i was just doing SEO for 2-4 months (basically a beginner),
what would be the best options from this list? (I can't try all of these
since I'm not yet full time on SEO.
Thanks in advance for any reply.
  • Screen Sleuth · 10 months ago
Amazing post, lots of great info. It's worth noting that most of these require
some basic SEO knowledge to implement any changes needed for these stats to
    matter.
  • Anderson · 10 months ago
    1) You forgot Nuconomy.

    2) Read comment 22. (midnightklein) . Complete idiots are funny.
  • JAWStats web analytics · 10 months ago
Thank you very much, Cameron, for including JAWStats in your article.
  • w1cked · 10 months ago
It's a great list, but I'm surprised to see two important newcomers missing.

    Nuconomy - http://www.nuconomy.com

    and

    StatsIt Web Analytics - http://www.statsit.com

Both are bringing something new and exiting to the mix, namely insights in human language and formulation of data in to single value. Both have quite different approach to this, but seem to aim for the same goal.

Nuconomy and StatsIt seem to be very comprehensive Web Analytics services in overall, offering much of what Omniture is offering in their SiteCatalyst package.
  • Ian · 10 months ago
Hi, great list, although Crazy Egg should definitely be included in this list.

Thanks for this list. It should save me a lot of time and
effort. I use statcounter at the moment but I will taking a
look at some of these. Never heard of some of them. : )
  • Social Media Monitoring · 10 months ago
    Great List! we use
    a lot them already
    and now I am excited
    to check out some of
    the ones I was
    unaware of.
  • Bob · 10 months ago
    No offense but this
    is a terrible list.
    I mean, there are a
    lot of good products
    on here, but you
    also listed a bunch
    of no-names that NO
    ONE uses, like
    mviSPY - give me a
    friggin break,
    taht's the SECOND
    tracker you list? NO
    ONE uses that! It's
    a piece of junk and
    it costs almost
    $100/mo for just
    30,000 daily page
    views. Only a sucker
    would sign up for
    that. Why is that
    the SECOND item in
    your list? That's
    just inexcusable.
  • Gabriel Topala · 10 months ago
Excellent post! I really enjoyed it. I will be back for
    more!
I'm using both Google Analitics and Clicky (paid)
    Sincerely,
    Gabriel Topala

    me confused to
    choose..

    could you tell
    me,which toolbox
    should i choose??

    i want the best
    toolbox.. ^_^

    Most web analytic
    tools are going to
    perform the same
    functions whether
    they are free or
    cost a fortune.
    What's important is
    to work with
    individuals who know
    how to analyze the
    data, and extract
    answers to tough
    business questions.
  • den · 10 months ago
There is another tool called etracker webcontrolling (www.etracker.com). It is very popular in europe and claims to have 60.000+ users.

Cameron - thanks for including our various packages available from www.elogicwebsolutions.com. We are getting hundreds of downloads a day and would also appreciate any feedback from other webmasters on how to improve our projects.

This list has become very useful for me to find out what's available out there that I can use for my own site.

    Good job!

Oh yeah, Mashable is fantastic. But so is, Toy Room

My question is about stat counter. Is there any law against giving false knowledge about a counter for types of visitors, returning visitors, or unique in nature? I have many businesses and would like to know where is the line drawn for the the advantages these powerful companies have when it comes to false general knowledge or creating fake companies with ultimate power?? Thanks for your time
  • Rebecca Zwar · 8 months ago
Thorough list. Personally, I use a combo of Click and Google Analytics on my sites. Love Clicky's real-time feedback, but have to stick with Analytics as well as the old standby.
  • Knowing alexa · 7 months ago
Alexa is one of the most known names in the web circuit. http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/fortunehotels.in Alexa's numerous features aimed at the benefit of the users have contributed immensely to its rapid expansion and ever growing popularity.

A new cool site which estimates your or your vistors webiste value and daily visitors http://www.webtraffic24.com
  • LavaIP · 6 months ago
Really useful list - thank you very much for putting this together. What do you think of the new Google Analytics interface? It makes the links between Adwords and Alaytics disappear, so I won't be switching to the new one just yet.
  • statsMan · 5 months ago
All of these do some level of visitor tracking, but not only go to the visit level to provide a complete set of detail. I like mvispy.com for that reason. It is not expensive and has a 30-day free trial to get started with. It gives me more data about the actual visitor and their visit and I can get Events Triggers based on any criteria that I want.
  • design nh · 6 months ago
Fantastic list. My question would be would there be a good compliment to google analytics?
  • design nh · 6 months ago
Webstats PRO looks great. I really like the path analysis feature it offers.

The ananyltis market has changed so much that I find it difficult to look at your article of January and beleive it is still current. I would love to see you do another review of the market. I look at several of your recommendations and notices several sites have greatly improved and added features www.mvispy.com

Would love to see yhou update this article
  • Vikasseo · 4 months ago
Seem U put quite a hard work in collecting these link information .
    Well done Thanks
Well u can use stats by enabling plesk-stat/webstat on server.
    Thanks
  • Bruno · 4 months ago
Why didnt you mention Feedjit? I find Feedjit one of the best real time tracking sites!!!
  • brettburky · 2 months ago
This is a great list of analytic tools.
  • brettburky · 2 months ago
I love the list. I have gone through each of them. Some of course just a little too much money. But i would love an answer if anybody could tell me. I am looking for a better way to make reports. Something that will automatically send out reports monthly on criteria I constitute. Too many clients to be making reports the way i am doing it.

I honestly would be willing to pay for mentoring to become better at web analytics. I am pretty good with other aspects of the web, but not a big fan of analytics.

If you are a pro please I welcome you to contact me. Come to www.twothink.com and contact me please.

To Cameron- I apologize if this is unacceptable to ask for help. If so delete it.

    thanks,

    Brett
  • Widget Tracker · 2 months ago
Check out the new features added to mviSPY! I went to www.mvispy.com and viewed their latest news release. They have added PPC tracking, pages viewed and are working on creating a tracking system for widgets. I see that they are actively putting together tracking scripts for Kickapps widgets.
