But today finally I will be able to use it. I hope its good because I'm losing faith in chrome and firefox.

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

"who the hell cares for Opera wen u hv firefox and chrome..!!"

People with more than half a brain?

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Why yes, I have seen the "security testing".

It just so happens that it was a "report" paid for by Microsoft to make them look good. Never mind all the factual errors in the "report", such as the claim that Opera 9.63 updated itself to 9.64 automatically even though Opera 9 doesn't support automatic updates!

More about this crappy "report" by Microsoft:

http://www.thetechherald.co...

Opera already has 3% globally, and 7-10% in Europe.

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Opera is by far the best browser worldwide. Chrome is the fastest yes. But not very customizable at all. Firefox is customizable, but not on the interface, is insecure, buggy and slow. Explorer is well, explorer...
Safari, fast, but not as secure as Chrome or as customizable as Firefox. Opera has it all. Secure, not as much as Chrome but very close. Fast. Not as fast as Safari and Chrome but faster then Firefox and Explorer. Very customizable, from the interface, to the widgets. Specially it has allot of features that the others lack. How about running widgets outside the browser, directly on desktop. The tab feature is incredible, you can even put websites on auto reload and tweak the browser just like you want and like it. I still dont understand how people dont like Opera. Its probably because some websites dont display very well, but that is a thing from the past now.

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

i would use if it loaded images in a way that didn't feel wrong. the scroll on to the screen like its 1997 and I'm on dial up for some reason with Opera. why do images look so weird on opera?

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Just downloaded the new Opera browser...I love it so far. Better than Google Chrome in my opinion :)

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Me too! I used Mozilla at first because everyone told me it was better than IE. Okay understandable. Then came along Chrome that saved me from the extremely slow to startup but definitely useful Mozilla. Chrome is nice and all too, and I had used Safari and Opera before but dropped it. Then GMail crashed just now. I thought it was Chrome having problems, so I decided to try Opera. I love it! So thanks GMail for crashing?

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Thanks, but there's no need to Photoshop - they linked to a high-res PNG
http://imgur.com/eeBnC.png

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Very true..

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Wow! The features that you've talked about are what made me use the Opera browser in the first place. I don't have to install plugins or run other applications to do other tasks: mails, contacts, notes, feeds, speed dial...

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

While the desktop browser space may not be saturated, it certainly is not dominated. The same can't be said for the mobile space; and this is where Opera Mobile is a clear contender, IMHO.

We'll see what MSFT manages to do with Pocket IE (or IE Mobile, or whatever moniker they'll give it) but for now Opera Mobile 9.7 is one of the more interesting and usable mobile browsers for WinMo devices.

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Stan, you guys should do another post in the future digging a little deeper into some of the features of this software and what makes it so different from the rest of the browsers out there.

I don't think people realize, for instance that opera mail is an *integrated* browser-mail client. (as in, it lives in a browser tab) Same with the in-built IRC/chat client, and RSS reader. It's also a complete web development environment.

You can even use the web panels to, say, keep friendfeed open (and see it updating in real-time) in a side frame while your doing something else. No 3rd party 'apps' needed.

The browser literally can, if you like, replace *several* pieces of stand-alone software. And it does it really well. Not in a 'me too' way. There's more to this story then the speed enhancements. It's some of the most feature-rich, stable, standards-compliant software out there.

If it was rebranded with some hipster web 2.0 name - it would probably be super popular.

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Gotta link for those stats? Opera is the most standards compliant web browser in the world. Period. It is elegant software in every sense of the word. You're also forgetting to mention it has an integrated mail client, IRC client, widgets & web pannels (with literally allows to take any web page and basically make it a little web app you can run on your desktop or in a browser frame)

It also has author mode which allows to to see only static HTML, Dragonfly (a javascript debugger) and basically gives better DOM control than *any* browser out there. So again, where and what do you base that security claim on?

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Man opera is very very fast, best browser to watch youtube

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

In a funny way ,
Firefox is like Iphone,-widely used,a leader and pack with features/apps

Chrome is like Google's Android-close rival to the above, has its own strength

Opera 10 is like Palm Pre...-always inovative but not as popular.yet.

IE?
That's like Blackberry Storm...-big,slow...

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

who the hell cares for Opera wen u hv firefox and chrome..!!

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Maybe he didn't care to read it either.

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Sounds like a version worth checking out...

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Sure, thanks for the heads up.

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

"Now, it’s released one of the biggest – at least by number – milestones in its history: version 10."

This is possibly the dumbest tech sentence ever published - I hope you get a bonus

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

Opera is good for those with brains, not retards.

Re: A Major Milestone: Opera 10 is Here

right LOL, have you see the browser security testing before?
