regardless if she was in a hotel room or not. no means no. lets no make excuses for his actions. both parties need to take personal responsibility for their choices. And if u pay attention u would know that they had been building a "relationship for some time. Many people use the internet to date. she lived in la and was going to meet up with him there. U think she was gonna drive all the way back after meeting up? the could have met up at the hotel bar which in my book is way better then meeting a "stranger" at my house. come on..... fact of the matter, no means no.

It doesn't matter if the woman is "living dangerously" or not. She might have chosen to be at the hotel, but he chose to attack and rape her. Completely unacceptable and wrong. The guy is the criminal for attacking her.

I disagree with the Craiglist analogy: "As Gawker points out in its reference to the “Craigslist Killer”, it’s simply the novelty of these new sites that leads to such headlines." While you choose who to follow or unfollow at Twitter, you're given everything under the sun at Craigslist and there was little or no editing at the time of the "Craigslist murder." Seems like half the ads there are for "get rich while you're sleeping" schemes, or to come "work in my bar in a wet t-shirt."

Further, it is unlikely someone would make the number of calls and connections telephoning around that one makes on Twitter with little effort.

Rape is always wrong. No amount of circumstantial evidence can change that. "No" should always mean "no." Having said that, to imply that the "victim" has no blame in this is foolish and naive. If I know that the alley on 11th street is notorious as a haven for crime, I would be wise to avoid that street. (And let's be honest: For a woman to rent a hotel room for a stranger implies that she is either foolish, a hooker, or is hoping to cash in on the man's own foolishness.) Any way you slice it, to automatically assume the innocence of either party shows a lack of prudence and discretion on the part of those making the judgment. If the authorities in this case refuse to make both parties culpable (even if it's just a matter of fining them for stupidity and forcing them to split the court costs), it will only prove that our legal system no longer cares about justice.

implying that the accuser is in any way to blame because she agreed to meet her attacker at a hotel is tantamount to saying that someone wearing a short skirt at the time of her rape was asking for it just by wearing a short skirt... please. so what if she agreed to meet him at a hotel? she doesn't have the right to change her mind? "no" doesn't mean "no"? if he did indeed rape her, does it make it alright - or make her any less of a rape victim - based on the fact that they were in a hotel room? "no" still means "no" regardless of your geographical location. in this country the accused is innocent until proven guilty; by the same logic the accuser is a victim until proven otherwise. let's not re-victimize a potential rape victim without knowing all the facts just because she made a decision that you might not have.

Aside from it NOT having anything to do with Twitter, why would she rent a hotel room and wait for him in it, then return to the room with him after dinner...and call it rape. She seems to be asking for it at that point. I mean, how stupid can you be to rent a room and not expect anything to happen...definitely doing this for money and her 15 minutes of fame.

The accuser may have made poor judgement with the 'renting hotel room waiting for him there and returning to hotel with him after dinner' sanario; but it dosen't make what happned understandable. Yuck! Don't watch the TV show, never knew it existed, have no use for the MC Hammers of the world, and their fruits who don't fall far from the tree.

A few thoughts on this…
1. Insane that the “accuser” would rent a hotel room and wait for Grant there. That’s like waiving a red flag in a bulls face then being upset when it charges at you. Now obvioulsy I don’t know all the facts so my comment is purely surface perception.
2. Again insane to see media jumping on a headline to exploit Twitter like that. Sad. Any “Hook” they can get.
3. Praying for all involved, Marv and “accuser.”
