Just saw this great post and I would like to introduce Arty Tweets: Use your Twitter Profile Picture for your artistic expression and support this with a tweet.

The creative expression is a slogan as an image in your profile picture, just a single image which is supported by your tweet or something else.

The only prerequisite is the use of your Twitter profile picture.

Then you send a tweet and make a screenshot of the tweet (e.g. by screen hunter).
This screenshot is uploaded to for example Mobypicture.com.
Your work of art is complete when you have sent a tweet to @ArtyTweet including a link to your screenshot.

Afterwards, you change your profile picture back to the normal one.
The accompanying tweet and the screenshot will then be published on http://artytweet.posterous.... .

We just get started but we hope we will receive a lot of Arty Tweets.

About a year an a half ago I found myself in a dentist's office waiting to find out whether I'd need a root canal (ugh!). When I tweeted my location I suddenly was being followed by an endodontist from Canada. A few tweets later (and after it was determined I did need the dental work) I decided to tweet the whole procedure live right from the chair: http://outtacontext.com/twi... --Think of this as a performance art project. Dentists and endodontists from across North America were following me live during the procedure, asking questions along the way. My doctor was a great sport about it and stopped every so often so I could update my tweets.

Have a look at Nooblast project, although it's a little bit more than a Twitter app. It is inspired by the Noosphere concept, and visually compares real-time network crowd buzz for two trends as an abstract cloud around the globes. And twitter surely is among the sources of shout entities.

I would definitely add Wordle [url]http://www.wordle.net/[url]. It generates fantastic word clouds from words taken from URL of any blog, blog feed, or any other web page that has an Atom or RSS feed - that means also Twitter profile.
Although it's not a dedicated Twitter-to-Art project, it's worth considering next time.

You may create a gallery on the fly using web galleries RSS (like of flickr, picasa, photobuckets , etc" ) then view them with power twitter. here is an example I made:

Nice list! I especially like Timetweets.
Twitter has announced they will incorporate geocoding into their service. Once they do that, there will be great new opportunities for Twitter art. You could easily plot your followers on a nice map for instance, like I did here for my project - where I already have the coordinates of all followers: http://www.flickr.com/photo...
