This is a great highlight of the fact that Twitter (even with quite sophisticated apps) cannot fulfill it's real purposes yet. It might never be able to do so.

When i read the post i seen google answers and thought about yahoo answers had to actually google it and make sure yahoo answers was still alive.

Many of these sites are new to me. I love masable because it now only provides information you want to know. It provides information you didn't even know to ask but you got your answer anyway. It keeps me on the cutting edge.

Technology is amazing: Twitter seems smaller, lighter, and simpler than preceding tech, but it's much more powerful. I really think the founders took a page from the book of Jacob Nielsen. And possibly made a deal with some type of Wizard. Just my take on it.

If you're interested in this space, you should check out Aardvark (http://vark.com), the startup I'm working on.

You send Aardvark any question via IM or Email, and Aardvark finds the right friend (or friend-of-friend) to answer, live. Aardvark uses advanced algorithms to figure out what each question is about, and route it to the best person to answer. It connects to Facebook and other social networks to figure out who you're connected to.

Twitter integration is in the pipeline...

I have found Mahalo Answers to be the most responsive. They are even going out and finding questions on Twitter and then putting up $1 "tips" to people who answer them.

I think that the absence of @answers on this list is unforgivable!

Has somebody created a Twitter-type service that tracks the number of people that click on links posted in Tweets?
My own experience is few people click on links in Tweets.
Most Tweets have links.
If no one is clicking on the links in Tweets, why post them?

Can we please stop acting like Google is deathly afraid of a website that still has problems staying up? Google Answers couldn't compete with Yahoo! Answers. I doubt Twitter even came into play when they made the decision to shut down the service.

I've tried throwing out some questions on twitter with a few answers in return. I feel sure there's more folks who would be willing to toss in their 2 cents - just need to figure out best way to reach them in the middle of all the noise. Thanks for sharing this. Will check them out.

I am surprised that Mahalo Answers doesn't get a mention in the post nor in the comments. You send your question to @answers and it gets posted to the site. You get a reply for each answer received. They even have a rewards scheme where you can offer a tip for the best answer.
