you know what? i just spent about 20 minutes trying to find this article using your search. i glanced at it earlier in the day, and remembered that it spoke of an app for url shortening that had something to do with a pig. so i searched combinations of these keywords: "url tiny tinyurl url shortening pig" - almost always using pig. my point: should we be using associations when we do keywords - like pig/bacon? anyway, i'm jazzed to be using bacn'me comment on the following mash article tonite: http://bacn.me/43a (note: could not paste that url from bacn'me --- had to type it in - (ff, 3.0.10). peace

Krumlr.com, though not weird, has been URL shortening for almost a year with Twitter and yet to have been mentioned on TechCrunch. Krumlr does this with a dragable toolbar link and also bookmarks the page for you in your Krumlr profile. Krumlr provides rankings and stats with a fun follow-me, follow-you interface and has thousands of current "TweetMarks" to explore.

Never heard of URL shorteners before. So they're used for jokes among techies and useful in posting because although it is much shorter than the original URL displayed when your on the page you would like people to link to it still works? Also good for sending msgs of limited length ei Twitter? I'm still not sure I get it, but interesting. More articles on this subject would be cool....
    Side note*
Is shorteners even a proper English word? Or is it just tech speak?
  • David D. · 7 months ago
Another interesting one if http://www.Fyin.com - it has some interesting features, especially from a b2b standpoint.
  • Justin Smith · 7 months ago
How lazy have we become that we cannot simply type in the full URL anymore.
But to add 'lolcatism' to our links? Egads.
