It won't be a complete Net failure until AOL is brought down. Oh, and we need to jam the paper in fax machines.

  • CathyWebSavvyPR · 3 months ago
Gmail on google apps is not working for me on the web. It seems that the Gmail outage is hitting some more than others.

Id love to see a story about alternative email systems, especially webmail. I have a client who does not like to use outlook or MS products. Still uses Eudora - We are researching other options - GMail,
Thunderbird, Opera mail, Pegasus Mail, The Bat (from RITLabs.com, SeaMonkey (mozilla), and Sugar CRM. He also uses ACT (but the older version), and needs something that will sync with his blackberry as well. He likes the relationship management part of Eudora (keeping track of pat contacts etc in notes section).

This may not be the appropriate place, but I'd love to see a story sparked by Gmail being down, looking into alternative email packages, and even some relationship database managers. A Long shot, but it never hurts to ask.

It makes me feel like I'm not the only one who needs a loooot the gmail service.
  • bhartzer · 3 months ago
I don't rely on Gmail for my real email, I use my own server and my own domain. When Gmail is down I just go on over to Twitter or maybe even IM the person I'm trying to get ahold of.

Go to a pub with an equally socially inept friend and discuss the failing of humanity while trying not to look at the hot/cute <opposite sex> across the bar and lose track of your money/mobile/keys......

    What GMail is still down???

  • Cliff · 3 months ago
OK, Barb, this is just damn creepy. How the hell did you know that the first thing I did was tweet about this. I demand forthwith that you cease and desist from eavesdroppping on my work space. • Nindya · 3 months ago
    BWAHAHAHHAHAHA XD

I should admit the steps are true though. When GMail/Google is down, usually Twitter will have Fail Whale ahoy-ing in the next 5 minutes. Afterwards, Twitter is lagging thanks to the Tweets Tsunami and people started to invade Facebook :D
