though I will suggest everyone not to install lots of plugins... This will slow down Firefox...
    I'm using Tab kit...

Great list set. I use colour tabs and I swear by it. great for the micro-management kind that like to set minute details.
  • zohaibusman · 8 months ago
really cool because some times you really need to manage the tabs in firefox.

firegestures is great for closing tabs, reopening closed tabs, and refreshing tabs very easily... it's a great add-on
  • Amit · 8 months ago
As much as I love all the addons, I find that its slowing the speed of the FF.
What can I do about it?
  • ProfessionalGun · 8 months ago
I have a deep abiding hatred for tab-based browsing. I like OS features like OSX's Exposé and Vista's Flip as a means of quickly managing multiple windows - but tabs seem to completely ruin that experience.

Some of these tools seem to help solve that issue! Great list.

Great collection - one of the first addons I install on fresh Firefox installations, however, is FaviconizeTab: https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/3780 - Call me old-fashioned, call me colour-hater... I just can't do without it...-)

This long list is interesting and very informative. Thanks for sharing. I just wanted to add though that given this list above, everyone should be aware that before using any of these add-on, one must check the its compatibility with the existing Firefox version they are using as some people overlook this. Bug issues must be reported accordingly. There are just so many add-on/plug-in out there but choose which one best fits your need.

There really are 40 of them? I'd say that market is pretty much tapped out. And yes, even a few add-ons start to slow down Firefox a bit.

very useful add-ons...........thanks for this great post...

Wow, I didn't go through the details of each and any of those add-ons, but it seems that combining them all, one will finally be able to come close to Opera's functionality !
  • carmma m · 8 months ago
Yes I agree. Opera is a very good browser. I have been using Opera for over a year and it is the one that I use most often.

Must say that I'm surpised that neither Tabhunter nor Find In Tabs made this list. (addons 7924 and 8078)

You might want to try 'Tab Session History' https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/7340
and 'Paste to Tab and Go' https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/7163

I especially like using Morning Coffee. It's very handy for those that write articles of varying topics on a schedule.
  • carmma m · 8 months ago
Morning coffee sounds interesting, how can I find it? I would like to check it out.

How ChromaTabs Plus never makes a list like this is beyond me. It colors the tabs based on the site icon color. From a usability perspective this is much better than picking a random color.

firefox has thumbstrips also. it puts small windows of the page all in a row at the bottom of the browser page just click on the icon on the toolbar on your browser. then you can choose from them and see the whole page but smaller. just click on the icon again to send them back up to the toolbar. fasinating... and convenient.

Impressive list, many of those are new to me and I could have sworn I'd seen this list before. This sort of information really makes you appreciate the work put into great free programs like FireFox. Another great free resource I ran into lately was justaskgemalto, it's a wide reaching but not overly technical digital security site.

Please let me know if you have anything against Tabhunter (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/...), and I'll
see if I can fix it.

Showcase allows me to do the searching across tabs that I need, including searching text on the tab's page (which I find essential for my work), plus it shows me thumbnails of the tabs matching the tabs as I am typing the search string. It doesn't do regex searching, though.

A fantastic tab add-on is IETab.

It allows you to open up a link in Internet Explorer, for those sites that just don't work properly in Firefox (like my own CMS!!). You can also choose to "switch rendering engine" if you already have a site up and it's not playing the game in Firefox. This is also very handy if you're trying to see if your own site is formatting correctly in both browsers.
