Worth noting that Southwest Airlines has a large and active following on Facebook (fan page). TicketMaster and Red Bull also have very active fan pages.

Take a look at this UK example, where elected representatives are asked questions via widgets and Facebook apps (and answer using webcam).

Yoosk works in partnership with mainstream media- here's an example of a government minister using the yoosk platform to consult readers of a newspaper on new legislative proposals.

I really appreciate the effort into this article, but c'mon world... is this really the best that you can come up with? Nearly all of this is a fad that will be gone in a year.
The verdict is still out on Starbuck's which is the only value generating idea in my book.

Thanks for the great listing - clearly social media adoption is fast and furious among leaders who get what it has to offer.
One recent example of our participation in social media came at our Vision customer conference. We worked with Bite PR to create a unique Twitter mashup -- 60 inch flatscreens showing a map of our exhibit hall and situated around the showfloor for the exhibitors to Tweet describing what was happening or coming up at their booths. When they'd tweet their booths would pop-up on the screens with their messages giving attendees the opportunity to better decide what booths to visit at any given time.
We are always trying to open up new doors for people to talk to us.

It's tied together by a relevance engine that collects everything you write, post, enter into your profile, ask or answer, flicker about, etc., so when you do ask a question, it's sent to the 15 most relevant people who can answer your question. Results since August 07 launch: 6,000 questions asked; average question gets nine answers; average question gets first answer within an hour 45% of the time, within 24 hours 90% of the time; hundreds of thousands of dollars saved by cutting down on lost time looking for information, finding in-house language translators rather than hiring out-of-house, finding a 1,500 word acronym glossary someone had been fashioning for years; and a re-connected community after several years of globalizing the workforce.

I guess it will only increase and more and more corporates are asking what they can do online and in the social media space. Earlier, the requests used to come primarily the companies in the tech and consumer products verticals, but today even B2B products/services companies are jumping onto the bandwagon.
I'm going to spend some time browsing the sites a bit to see where Clutter Control Freak can make some improvements. Maybe we'll make your list someday!
:)
I was assisting our brand consultant do some research for our company (quick plug: we develop a product called Mugzy, a comprehensive monetization solution for SocNets) when I stumbled across this site. Great info, thank you.
Brands engaging with their consumers, and consumers engaging with their brands – what a concept! :)
Thanks everyone –

Thanks for the great information. Annie
Would like to mention Tatamotors - changeseverything.in campaign, Tata Nano online campaigns, Lipton jigsaw puzzle campaign which are some big examples of corporates using social media!
