You can also post a profile for yourself so that employers can search for you.

I would also recommend anyone who is looking for a job, to post their information on their website. If you do not have a website, then resumebucket.com is a great way to post your resume so it would be searchable.
Here are some ways to show up on recruiter searches.

If you are in Austin, Texas, there are some great resources to help you find a job. I tweet about them on a daily basis - you can follow me on Twitter (@jmarkunas), link to me on FB or LinkedIn!
Another great opportunity is the Job Search Boot Camp coming up on May 30th at St. Edwards University in Austin. http://twurl.cc/xuj

Make a list of 10 companies you want to work for in your area, research them, find an entry point, put together a nice "personal brand" package on yourself, with a personalized cover letter and resume, and personally deliver it to the entry point person at those companies. Make the case for why they SHOULD hire you.

It would be useful to find out about sites, where you can find out about contract work.
Or can you use the same sites as above?
