Mashable - The Social Media Guide: 20+ Online Multiple-Services Blog Pingers

  • Kevin · 2 years ago
Great list. I've noticed if you start adding more than 10 or so ping service URLs in Wordpress it starts getting real sluggish on posting.

I used Autopinger and it seemed to be fairly quick and thorough in pinging.

Thanks Kevin for the Wordpress tipoff. Would be good to hear if others experience the same.

Personally I like experimenting with new pingers, as if to see any difference in how fast my blog get indexed by search engines, if at all, when pinged from one pinger to another.
  • Kevin · 2 years ago
Yep, we use Wordpress for our company blog and also my own. Two installations, two version variants, two different servers. I took the list of pingers from Wordpress (looks like its about 40-50) and the blogs would hang up after every post or edit attempting to ping them all. I trimmed down the list to the top 6-8 and now it doesn't hang.

    So, external services are good.

Palin, any discoveries yet with your experimentation? I've been reading all different schools of thought on this recently. I'd be curious to see what you had to say.

Also, does anyone have a preference over any of the above options?

    Thanks for this.
I have had problems with pingomatic and was struggling to find an upto date list of ping services, which I have been through and decided to give autopinger a try.
  • Palin Ningthoujam · 2 years ago
Adam, nothing substantial as yet, but I have found Autopinger to be good in the way it takes its time to ping every service and get the direct response from those services. PingMyBlog’s list is very comprehensive.

Of course these are not as popular as Pingoat and Pingomatic.

Thanks Palin, definitely keep me posted via this post or MyMashable. In the meantime, PingMyBlog or Autopinger?

Autopinger, but if I'm short of time, then PingMyBlog.

Autopinger looks really cool, thanks for the suggestion.

Thank you for the listing. I used couple of services to complement the listing of the automatic pinging services on RateItAll:

I was thinking of a better ping service apart from the one built in and the maxblogpress plugin. Thanks for sharing this. I'm using Ping My Blog now and I know it gonna help more than the original Ping service. Thanks alot !

And what about PingThatBlog! ? I use it daily, I think this service also worth mentioning here, as it has some features that others hasn't got. just search google for PingThatBlog or visit pingthatblog.com

    Nice work.

Can using all of these cause you to be banned by the search engines though?

This is an excellent list! I have been using Pingoat and Ping-o-matic, but recently Ping That Blog! seems to hang and not complete its pinging so I have been looking for alternatives.
  • jeffconner · 2 months ago
Sad how many of those sites aren't around anymore (or aren't working).

Here's a new take on the xml-rpc ping service, it's called PingNinja (www.pingninja.com). This one still pings all the big aggregators but the difference between it and the ones you've listed is that PingNinja will go through and finish pinging the list 10x faster than any other site i've seen. It's 100% free, there aren't even ads up there while i still tweak out the design a little bit (it will always be 100% free though, i promise).

Check it out and see if you notice the speed difference. :)
