    how 18M > 250M ?
  • BullishChina · 2 months ago
a bit understated, should be more.

Out of those 18 Million how many are still active? How many actively contribute? How many are Spam accounts? Twitter to me is just a way to get news. My use of twitter is in no way shape or form a scial one but more of a information hub. facebook on the ither side...

Not too suprising at the numbers, many people abandon Twitter fast when they realize the few activites they can do there. Twitter needs to find a way to allow users to interact more, and maybe (*Possibly*) integrate with another social network, like Myspace or Facebook.

Interesting statistics. But would been more interesting to see how this growth was compared to other Social Networks like Facebook, MySpace etc.

    Cheers.. Are

That's odd because lately I've been seeing a quoted figure of 40-44 million Twitter users/visitors globally with a slight majority of users outside the U.S. eMarketer should talk to Comscore & figure out who's right. ; )

Twitter needs more time to be in the position of Facebook!!

These figures are still far to those of Facebook, Twitter has yet to improve in the reliability!

To get the facts you have to read the article and look at the survey figures. Not many did.

The projected figure of 18 million for 2009 is for US adult users only. The rapid growth of Twitter in the UK, plus the rest of Europe, Australaisa and wherever on the globe - it's a big world outside of the US - will probably take the figure nearer to 35 million. Who knows? Twitter will, at the end of the year. Exponential growth is phenomenal and may surprise everyone.

Twitter is far from the results of Facebook, it has to improve on reliability!

    im using Twitter too.
but honestly, i think Twitter will be die when Google launched Google Wave.
  • Edoardo · 2 months ago
Wave kills Twitter? its more complicated than that:
    http://microgeist.com/2009/08/twitter-vs-google...

IMHO 18 Milion Twitter users is more social than 250M in fb, most of the people are on fb to chat or to upload pics from holidays: fb is nothing new and will not last.

    Twitter vs Wave :
im not mean ppl promptly move from Twitter to Wave. Surely they will use both at the first time. but by Google product convergence, they possible to use Wave for their short message finally. It depend on how Wave well blend with other Google products (mail, map,...) and making more user experience.

    Twitter vs FB :
by PR & Marketing point of view,
many number of twitter-er come for sell their product. moreover, they come for sell someone else products. so that's mean a part of this community is seller community.
but ppl who love to play games, come for chat and upload their party pics is the real customer. its mean fb is the real customer community.
  • Edoardo · 2 months ago
Not saying that fb makes less money than twitter or that it doesn't make money: certainly who is on fb is there for a ludic experience, to play, that must be the second big revenue of the net ...after porn!

    Twitter deserves 18 million users.
Of course they'd better be users that actually use the service and not just placeholders.

I am very interested in why everyone is talking about twitter! I don't even know how to get into the website with my opinions I would love to talk about world affairs because I have been involved with politics and other important things going on in this world today and yesterday.

I tend to take these research figures with a grain of salt as they vary across the board from comScore to McCann to Forrester to eMarketer.

It seems that FaceBook has much more fans than Twitter. LOL

Would be interesting to see facebook numbers at the same time as a company. Rather then presently.
